How to Make an Anti-Spot Serum with Alpha Arbutin?

Alpha Arbutin: The Most Potent Natural Active Against Spots

Alpha Arbutin is a natural and safe derivative of hydroquinone. It has a scientifically proven effect against sun spots, post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, and uneven skin tone by inhibiting the tyrosinase enzyme, which regulates melanin synthesis. It is much more stable and effective than Beta Arbutin.

Who Is Alpha Arbutin For?

  • Those with sun spots and melasma
  • Those with dark spots after acne (PIH)
  • Those with uneven skin tone and dull appearance
  • Those seeking a brightening effect

Alpha Arbutin Spot Serum Formula (100 grams)

Note: Alpha Arbutin remains stable between pH 5.0-7.0. In an acidic environment (pH < 4.5), it can hydrolyze into hydroquinone. pH control is critical.

Preparation Steps

  1. Pre-swell Xanthan Gum in glycerin.
  2. Mix the water phase ingredients (water, Pentylene Glycol, HA, Niacinamide).
  3. Add the Xanthan mixture and homogenize.
  4. Below 40°C, add Alpha Arbutin, Aqua Phytoplex, and Microcare DB.
  5. Adjust the pH to 5.5-6.5. Fill into a pump bottle.

Combination Suggestions

  • Alpha Arbutin + Niacinamide: Synergistic anti-spot effect
  • Alpha Arbutin + VC-IP: Antioxidant + brightening combination
  • Alpha Arbutin + AHA: Spot reduction with exfoliation (use as separate products)
