Alpha Arbutin - Raw Material
Product Name: ALPHA ARBUTIN
Inci name: ALPHA-ARBUTIN
Cas. No: 84380-01-8
Features and Uses: It is an effective ingredient frequently used in skin care. It generally helps to reduce pigmentation by inhibiting melanin production in the skin, lighten the appearance of spots, clear blemishes, and even out skin tone. It is particularly beneficial for pigmentation problems such as sun spots and acne scars. It aims to provide a softer, smoother, and brighter appearance to the skin. Additionally, it soothes the skin by having a gentle anti-inflammatory effect.
Physical Structure: Alpha Arbutin is a glycoside of hydroquinone, but a more stable form of hydroquinone. Thanks to its stable form, alpha-arbutin is released more slowly, showing a longer and gentler effect on the skin. It has a white or slightly cream-colored crystalline structure. It has no distinct odor. However, it can degrade when exposed to excessive heat and light.
Recommended pH range: Alpha Arbutin works most effectively in the pH range of 4.5 - 7.0. This pH range is quite close to the skin's natural pH level, so it does not cause skin irritation. In an acidic environment (below pH 4.5), the stability of alpha arbutin may decrease, so neutral or slightly acidic pH levels are generally preferred in skin care products.
Solubility: Water-soluble. Used in water-based serum, lotion, or cream formulations.
Recommended usage rate: 1-2% concentration is ideal.
