Natural Deodorant Making – With Zinc Ricinoleate (TegoDeo PY 88 G)

What is Zinc Ricinoleate (TegoDeo PY 88 G)?

Zinc Ricinoleate is a natural zinc salt derived from castor oil. It is used in cosmetic formulations as a deodorant active. It does not prevent sweating (it is not an antiperspirant), but instead neutralizes odor by physically absorbing the metabolic waste products of odor-causing bacteria.

TegoDeo PY 88 G is Evonik's proprietary form: a COSMOS-compliant raw material in powder form, easily dispersible in water.

Why Don't Competitors Stock It?

The vast majority of cosmetic raw material suppliers in Turkey do not stock this active. This is due to both supply difficulties and the fact that natural deodorant formulations are not yet widely known. At db/PURE, we are filling this gap.

Benefits and Features

  • Aluminum salt-free — safe and natural
  • Alcohol-free — suitable for sensitive and post-epilation skin
  • COSMOS compliant — can be used in organic certified products
  • Does not kill odor-causing bacteria, absorbs odor
  • Does not disrupt the skin microbiome
  • Suitable for roll-on, stick, and cream deodorants

Usage Rate

Used at a concentration of 1–5% in formulations. 2–3% is recommended for optimal effect. Can be added by dispersing in water or by direct mixing.
