You can now make an effective anti-aging night cream at home! This cream, which you will prepare with Bakuchiol (a natural retinol alternative), rosehip oil, and hyaluronic acid, repairs and renews the skin overnight.
What is This Cream For?
Bakuchiol reduces wrinkles, rosehip oil evens out skin tone, and shea butter deeply moisturizes. For sensitive skin, bakuchiol can be preferred over retinol.
Required Ingredients (for ~100g)
Oil Phase
- Olivem 1000 — 6% (alternative: Cetearyl Alcohol 50:50)
- Shea Butter — 10% (alternative: Avocado Butter, Mango Butter)
- Cocoa Butter — 5% (alternative: Shea Butter, Mango Butter)
- Rosehip Oil — 8% (alternative: Pomegranate Seed Oil, Fig Seed Oil)
- CCT — 5% (alternative: Jojoba Oil, Almond Oil)
- Vitamin E — 0.5%
Water Phase
- Distilled water — 57%
- Hyaluronic Acid — 1% (alternative: Aqua Phytoplex)
- Beta Glucan — 1% (alternative: Oat Extract)
- Glycerin — 3% (alternative: Pentylene Glycol)
Cooling Phase
- Bakuchiol — 1% (alternative: Retinyl Palmitate 0.5%)
- Retinyl Palmitate — 0.5% (optional)
- Gotu Kola Extract — 1% (alternative: Ginseng, Green Tea Extract)
- Plant-based Preservative — 1%
Production Process
- Prepare the oil phase: Melt and mix all oil phase ingredients at 70–75°C.
- Prepare the water phase: Heat distilled water to 70–75°C, add glycerin and beta glucan.
- Emulsify: Slowly add the water phase to the oil phase, stirring vigorously.
- Cool: Stir until cooled to 40°C.
- Cooling phase: Add bakuchiol, retinyl palmitate, preservative, and gotu kola extract. These actives are heat-sensitive!
- pH control: pH should be between 5.5–6.5.
- Fill into a dark glass jar.
Duration: ~50 minutes
