How to Make Mineral Sunscreen at Home? Natural SPF with Non-Nano ZnO

No Chemical Filters, Only Natural Mineral Protection

Most sunscreens on the market contain chemical UV filters. However, Non-Nano Zinc Oxide (ZnO) is the only natural and safe mineral filter that provides broad-spectrum protection against both UVA and UVB. Create your own SPF at home with the db / PURE Mineral Sunscreen Kit.

Why Non-Nano ZnO?

  • Physically reflects both UVA and UVB
  • Not nano-sized — does not penetrate the skin, safe
  • COSMOS ECOCERT compliant
  • Suitable for sensitive and baby skin
  • Leaves no white cast (transparent formulation)

Mineral Sunscreen Formula (100 grams)

Ingredient Ratio (%) Phase

Instructions

  1. Add ZnO to the oil phase: Pre-disperse ZnO in CCT to prevent clumping.
  2. Prepare the oil phase: Heat all oil phase ingredients to 70-75°C.
  3. Prepare the water phase: Bring distilled water, glycerin, and Allantoin to the same temperature.
  4. Emulsification: Add the water phase to the oil phase and homogenize with a blender.
  5. Cooling: Add preservative and essential oil below 40°C.
  6. Filling: Fill into a pump or squeeze tube.

Important Notes

  • 20% ZnO provides approximately SPF 30-40 protection (in vitro estimation).
  • Official SPF testing requires an accredited laboratory.
  • Reapply every 2 hours.
  • For a waterproof formula, Polyhydroxystearic Acid can be added.
