Exfoliates and Moisturizes: Lactic Acid
Lactic Acid is the most versatile member of the AHA family. In addition to its exfoliating properties, it also acts as a natural moisturizing factor (NMF) component. This dual action makes it ideal for dry, dull, and aging skin. Thanks to its larger molecular structure compared to Glycolic Acid, it is gentler.
Benefits of Lactic Acid
- Gentle chemical exfoliation — removes dead skin cells
- Natural humectant — moisturizes and softens the skin
- Evens skin tone, reduces fine lines
- Ideal for dry, dull, and aging skin
- Also used in moisturizing products in Sodium Lactate form

Moisturizing Lotion with Sodium Lactate
Sodium Lactate, the salt form of Lactic Acid, is not acidic — it's pH neutral. Therefore, it does not exfoliate but can be added to creams and lotions at 2-3% as an excellent humectant.
Usage Recommendation
Use only in the evening. Always apply SPF during the day. Sensitive skin can start with 5%.
