What is Tranexamic Acid?
Tranexamic Acid is an active ingredient that has been rapidly gaining popularity in dermocosmetic formulations in recent years. Originally used in medicine as an antihemorrhagic agent, this compound stands out in skincare as a powerful spot brightener and hyperpigmentation reducer.
Unlike Niacinamide or Alpha Arbutin, Tranexamic Acid suppresses melanin production through a different mechanism: it inhibits pigment transfer by disrupting keratinocyte-melanocyte interaction. This makes it effective against both sun spots and hormonal spots (melasma).
Why Don't Competitors Have It?
Tranexamic Acid is an active that is quite limited in terms of raw material supply. It is difficult to find in cosmetic purity, stable form, and at an affordable price. As db/PURE, we have added this active in cosmetic grade, in its pure form, to our stock.
Benefits in Skincare
- Reduces sun spots and melasma
- Evens out and brightens skin tone
- Works synergistically with Niacinamide
- Safe for sensitive skin (not an acid, but a salt form)
- Easily soluble in water-based formulations
- Stable in pH range 4–7
Who Can Use It?
Tranexamic Acid is suitable for all skin types experiencing sun spots, melasma, post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (acne scars), and general uneven skin tone. It is an excellent complement for those using Retinol or AHA/BHA.
